Battle of Arnhem

September 1944

"I recall that Monty was put under considerable pressure by ‘Boy’ Browning, the airborne forces’ commander, to go ahead with the assault on Arnhem."

Captain Johnny Henderson, Aide to Fieldmarshall Bernard Montgomery

Third article that I wrote on the Malburgen suburb of Arnhem south of the Rhine River during the Battle of Arnhem. This text is in Dutch language and covers the last days of the battle and the forced evacuation of the Dutch residents. It ends with the bombing of the Rhine Bridge by the US Air Force on October 7, 1944.
